Most network problems in a building are not configuration problems. They are a cable that was never labelled, an access point in the wrong ceiling, or a guest network sharing everything with the office. We build so those do not happen, and write down what we did.

Two buildings, two different problems

An office network and a church network fail in different ways, so they are not designed the same.

Offices

A network that gets out of the way: staff connect, it works, and when something changes there is documentation to change it from.

  • Cabling to desks and access points

    Cat6 or Cat6a runs from a central comms cabinet to every desk position, access point, camera and door controller, terminated to a patch panel and labelled to a scheme you can follow.

  • Switching, routing and firewall

    Sized for the number of ports you actually need with room to grow, with PoE where phones, access points and cameras need power over the same cable.

  • Wi-Fi that covers the whole floor

    Access points positioned for coverage rather than convenience, so meeting rooms and corner offices are not the dead spots everybody complains about.

  • Separated traffic

    Staff, guest, voice and camera traffic on their own VLANs, so a visitor on the guest network is nowhere near your file server.

  • Internet handoff and failover

    Clean termination of your provider's circuit, and a second connection configured to take over if the primary drops, where that matters to you.

  • A comms cabinet that stays tidy

    Wall-mounted or floor-standing, with the patching dressed and labelled, so the next person to open it can tell what is going on.

Churches

Sunday morning is a hard test for a network: a full building of phones, a livestream going out, and volunteers rather than IT staff running it.

  • Wi-Fi that holds up with a full congregation

    Several hundred devices arriving at once is a different problem from an office of thirty. Access points and channel planning sized for the room and the crowd, not the floor area.

  • Streaming that does not compete with guest Wi-Fi

    The production network kept separate from congregation Wi-Fi, so an upload does not stall because the building is on its phones. Upstream bandwidth checked against what your stream actually needs.

  • PoE runs for cameras and access points

    Cabling to camera positions, the booth and the ceiling, powered over the same run so there is no separate power problem at every mount point.

  • Sanctuary, booth, office and annex on one network

    Runs between buildings and rooms that grew separately over the years, brought onto a single documented network instead of a chain of consumer routers.

  • Built for volunteers to operate

    Labelled ports, a written diagram and a plain-language handover, so the person running the booth on Sunday can find the problem without calling anyone.

  • Work around your calendar

    Installation scheduled around services and events, not through them.

How it works

Site walk first, quote second, nothing ordered before you agree

    Site walk

    We come and look at the building: what is already there, where the cable can physically go, and what you actually need it to do.

  2. 02

    Design and quote

    A written plan and a fixed quote covering equipment, cabling and labour. You see the whole cost before anything is ordered.

  3. 03

    Install

    Cabling pulled and terminated, cabinet built, equipment mounted and powered, scheduled around how the building is used.

  4. 04

    Configure and hand over

    Network configured, tested under realistic load, and handed over with labelling, a diagram and documentation you keep.

Network builds are quoted per project after a site visit, because the cable route and the size of the building decide most of the cost. The Remote Hands hourly rates do not apply here — you get a fixed written quote before anything starts.
